blog tour ; the dream wife ~ louisa de lange

Here I am involved in another blog tour, a very exciting one may I add, this is for the debut novel by Louisa de Lange, called The Dream Wife, so let’s get into it!

Annie is the dream wife. Supportive, respectful, admiring – everything her husband wants her to be. And nothing at all like who she really is . . .

Annie is a prisoner in her own life. Her finances, her routine and her contact with the outside world are all controlled. Annie’s only reason for holding it together is her little boy. Her time with him keeps her sane, and at night she escapes into a dream world where the two of them are free.

But Annie is about to do a very bad thing.

And you won’t believe how she is going to do it…

My Thoughts

I must say I am already very excited to see what other amazing books Louisa is going to produce, because this was utterly incredible. I’m not normally a reader of thrillers but I could not put this book down at all, I had to keep reading, with all the twists and turns unfolding before me. The two main characters Annie and David, you very quickly begin to despise David as you find is very controlling and his mother is all for him and on his side, which makes everything worse for Annie herself. All I can say is READ IT, to find out what happens with there story I can’t possibly spoil it.

BLOG TOUR ; friendship never ends ~ ella dyson

So, ( !! exciting !! ) I’m a part of the blog tour, for the new release by Ella Dyson, called Friendship never ends, which is being released on the 27th of September.

A big-hearted comedy about friendship, the 90s and the greatest girl band in the world

Three independent women – and one man who lives for drama – haven’t spoken to their best friend in 20 years, after an epic talent show disaster tore them apart during the height of Spice-mania.

Self-appointed gang leader Carmen then decided to go it alone – Geri style. But now, in 2018, the school reunion is fast approaching. Friendship Never Ends tells the story of Carmen’s plan to win back her former besties – Jemma, Ellie, Laura and Benny – ahead of the big night. But has Carmen really changed? And can their friendship ever really go back to how it was?

My Thoughts

Oh, I loved this! It’s the perfect book that zooms you to the 90s and friendship! The main characters are Sarah (good name), Laura, Gemma, Benny and Carmen. They form a Spice Girls tribute band, called The Spice Rack. But as the years go by drift apart, of course as life generally happens but they come back together for a final concert together. I loved getting to know each of the characters. Would highly recommend this to any 90s kids, or anyone that loves that pop culture!

BLOG TOUR ; The Anniversary ~ Hilary Boyd

So, ( !! exciting !! ) I’m a part of the blog tour, for the new release by Hilary Boyd, called The Anniversary, which has been re-released on the 20th September 2018, it was originally published in 1953.42505253_785170751827038_2026735019044634624_n.jpg

Is the one you tried to forget the one you can’t live without?

Stella once thought that if she never saw Jack again, it would be too soon.

But life has other plans for her and her stubborn, handsome ex-husband.

Looking after their daughter in a time of need, Stella finds herself unwillingly reunited with the man she shared the best years of her life with – followed by the worst.

Where tragedy once tore them apart, now Stella and Jack are being drawn back together. But each of them has a new partner and a new life.

Should the fight temptation?

Should the past remain the past?

Or are some loves simply meant to be?

My Thoughts

This books was honestly amazing, so emotional I can’t even tell you. I enjoyed it from start to finish. At first I was a little worried it would be just lovey dovey, which I’m not into, and it was in places, but defiantly about a lot more, as there’s so much going on for all the characters. The main characters are Stella and Jack, the book starts in June 1985 where Jack proposes to Stella, but then it moves to present where they are divorced and with new partners. Through the book you find out why the separated, due to such a tragic incident, and how many years later they got brought back together.

spotting the signs of a toxic relationship ~ guest post!

The saying is true, love is blind, and when you’re in love it can be easy to look over certain actions or behaviours of your other half. But constant put downs amongst other things shouldn’t be something that should be overlooked.

These are the signs of spotting a toxic relationship that we should be aware of, because if they continue they’re not only going to leave you feeling low in mood and self esteem, but in time they might get worse and result in an abusive relationship that really affects you.

Spotting the signs of a toxic relationship can not only be beneficial to you, but for your friends and family too. Letting them know and be aware that these actions of other shouldn’t be tolerated, no matter what the circumstance.

Constant belittling;

Joking and laughing is an important part of any relationship, however if you’re the constant source or butt of their jokes then this could be a toxic sign, especially if you’re left feeling belittled by their words. If this is constant it’s likely they will wear you down, and leave you feeling bad about yourself and this is something that no one deserves to feel at any point.

A sense of dread;

If you have a feeling of dread about seeing your partner this should be a clear indicator that something isn’t quite right in the relationship. Whether it is pre-arranged plans to see each other or you’re heading home from work to the home you share it’s a red flag if you are worried to see them. A relationship should be a positive part of your life, and if they’re making you feel uncomfortable when you’re around them then it’s time to cut them out.

Only take from the relationship;

A relationship is a two-way street, and as much as you take you should be willing to give. If you find that your partner only wants thing to go their way, they’ll make all the important decisions, they control conversations, they don’t listen to when you’ve got things to say, these should all be red flags that they’re only in it for themselves. Yes, we can all be a little selfish at times, but if they’re constantly taking from the relationship and giving nothing back it’s a sign that things are a little toxic.

No chance to grow;

It’s a part of life that we grow and change as we age, however if your partner is putting a stop to this or refusing to help you with your plans and goals then something defintly isn’t right. If someone is preventing you from changing or being a better person, this can be a sure sign that your relationship isn’t healthy.

No empathy;

They might not being mean per se, but small things like ignoring texts, showing up late or cancelling plans without good reason without apologising can be a sign of a toxic relationship. This is because they’re not valuing your time and the effort that you’re putting into the relationship. Once is an accident, but if they’re doing it frequently you need to rethink your part in the relationship.

If you’re in or have previously been in an abusive relationship you can seek help from doctors and psychiatrics, and even claim compensation as a victim of abuse.

R PLACE ~ doughnuts!

I think realistically this is the most exciting blog opportunity to date. I’m so excited to be writing this, a food review!! on a pop up café!! EXCITING, right!? So the pop up café in question is called ‘R Place’ it’s ran by two lovely ladies that became friends over their love of rock music & cuppa teas, perfect! They went from a permanent location in Newcastle to using a converted (very cool) Bedford CF truck, and basically the pop up wherever you want them, any events you can think of! They also do home delivery to Newcastle and surrounding areas!

The menu consists of doughnuts & drink, I mean that is bloody perfect menu! In all honesty I’ve never quite tasted doughnuts as good in my life (.. and I’ve tried a lot). Now I’ve been very blessed to choose 4 doughnut (from the huge list) to try out and tell me opinions on, so here I am, let’s get chatting about doughnuts!

One of my favourite combinations in the world is bacon with pancakes so when I noticed a maple bacon doughnut on the menu, I had to choose, and WOW, oh my goodness, what a taste sensation, it’s the best thing I’ve put in my mouth if I’m honest, I’d be happy with a box of 24, honestly YUM. ps. look how crispy the bacon is, gosh my favourite!!!

Next one of my second favourite food combos is chocolate orange, again this was just a delight, a delicious delight, the perfect amount of chocolate and orange, just so divine. The orange zest is on the top, but also through the doughnut! Also the doughnuts themselves aren’t heavy or stodgy, you know you get some like that, these are so light and just wow. (can you tell I’m a fan..)

I used to always eat the rhubarb and custard sweeties, and thought I better just choose this to see what rhubarb and custard tasted like in doughnut form. This had huge chunks of rhubarb which had been caramelised on which is fab and vanilla custard icing on, big yum from me!

When you get me into autumn / winter I’m always thinking about black forest hot chocolates, you know seasonal. Yes you better believe they have a black forest meringue doughnut!! This has lemon in the doughnut it’s self, lovely fruity icing and mini meringues, how blooming cute, plus how pleasing to the eye!?

I mean overall I’m a little obsessed, I know where I’ll be going when I want a doughnut or 12. The range that they do is literally incredible, they’ll have something for everyone I’m absolutely sure as there’s over 40 flavours!

I’ll leave a few of their links so you can have a little look for yourselves. (you so should) Website ; Instagram ; Facebook. If you want to order the doughnuts/drinks to your home just give them an email ~ itsrplace@hotmail.co.uk ~ they can give you a menu & prices from there!

Just want to finish with a huge thank you to the ladies at R Place for bringing me these doughnuts yesterday, I love them of course and I’m going to rave about constantly haha!
